Over twenty years ago, Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy discovered a small alt rock band going by the name of The Academy and fell in love. He went on to get the band, now going by The Academy Is…, signed to his record label, Fueled By Ramen. Now, after all these years, they’re back on a large-scale tour to perform for their nostalgia-fueled fans. They’ll be at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland on December 6th, so don’t miss ‘em! For a band with only three studio albums, The Academy Is has had quite the tumultuous history. After being signed to Fueled By Ramen in 2003, The Academy Is released their debut self-titled EP and saw quite promising results at the time. However, it wasn’t until the release of their debut full-length album, Almost Here, that the band really started to take off.
Often considered to be Fall Out Boy Bassist Pete Wentz’s personal pet project, the band became an almost immediate success with Almost Here. Still, twenty years later, fans are dying to hear the record played live. Nostalgia gets us all in the end. That’s why this year, The Academy Is, will be playing Almost here in its entirety at over a dozen cities across the US! For elder emos, this is possibly the most exciting event of the season. The Academy Is… might not have released anything new since their initial breakup in 2011, but to fans, their music is still as relevant as ever. The band has been on a few separate strings of reunion shows since they called it quits, but few are as exciting as this one. The Academy Is will be headed out on a large-scale US tour to celebrate their magnum opus’s 20 year anniversary. The album in question is, of course, their debut studio album, Almost Here.

The US tour will begin on November 13th 2025 with a show at The Bluestone in Columbus, Ohio and will come to a bittersweet end right before Christmas on December 21st with a show in Santa Ana, California at The Observatory.
